Alongside a career in real estate, Moshie Horn is a partial investor in a stair business, American Quality Reliable Services, where he also assists in the woodworking.
Moshie Horn has always been a creator which is one of the reasons why he’s so drawn to woodworking, one of his side projects and personal passions. His journey into woodworking began when a good friend of Moshie Horn’s took over his family’s stair business — American Reliable Services. His friend was looking for someone to help out the business, both in operations and financially, so Moshie gave it a shot. He invested financially in the business and soon found that he actually enjoyed the work that was involved, building and crafting things. Woodworking is an age-old craft, combining nature and art to craft something beautiful. Nothing in this world lasts forever, but there is a special kind of magic that comes with creating something out of nothing.
Working in real estate, Moshie’s job involves a lot of numbers and requires careful calculations and thought; woodworking relaxes him and allows him time to relax while he focuses on the work at hand. He can create pieces quickly with relative ease, or he can create them slowly and take his time perfecting each item. He’s always enjoyed working with his hands, and together Moshie and his friend have built American Quality Reliable Services into a pretty nice business.
Although he has a stake in the company, Moshie Horn relies heavily on his business partner when it comes to the ins and outs of running the business — for him it’s more of a hobby, but for his friend, it’s his family’s business and he’s the third generation owner. Opened in 1952, the shop still very much looks the same. Several of the machines are the original ones used when it was first opened nearly 70 years ago, and they still use some of the same suppliers they’ve always relied on.
Professionally, Moshie Horn is the Principal at Apple Peach Holdings, LLC and Tusk Equity Partners, both of which are private real estate companies with a focus on Southeastern region. He takes great pride in his work investing in and developing real estate, especially for the opportunities it lends him to help those who need it most. Of the more than 1,550 apartments he owns, he ensures that go to veterans or battered women and their children, for whom he builds meeting rooms and play areas in each of the communities he constructs.
Moshie Horn and his wife married in 2011 and currently live in New York with their three young children. They all love spending time with one another as a family. Together, they like to travel and recently returned from a trip they took to Israel.
